Lovelock and Loveluck distribution
|
The following table illustrates firstly the distribution of
people named Lovelock and Loveluck by Census County for England
and Wales from 1841 to 1921. The numbers include the spouses of
Lovelocks and Lovelucks, who were obviously not born thus; on
the other hand there will be in each year a number of Lovelock
and Loveluck ladies who had married and were thus recorded
under their husbands' names. We do not claim that the two
aspects cancel each other out, but they possibly mean that the
figures shown were reasonably indicative of the numbers of
persons in each Census who had been born with the name
of Lovelock or Loveluck.
The figures from the 1939 Register are in most cases an
underestimate. This is because Register entries for anyone born
less than 100 years ago are not visible, unless they died before
1992 or have been proven to Findmypast to have died since then.
It is not possible to say whether obscured entries are Lovelocks
or Lovelucks.
Note: The figures below will often disagree with data
derived, for instance, from Ancestry.com® or
Findmypast.com® because the figures here include
variations on the name (eg Lovelocke), Enumerator errors (eg
Lovlock) and any mistranscriptions on the subscription websites
(eg Louelock). There are also discrepancies in the subscription
websites' location of some places (eg Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire
being included in Berkshire data because it fell within the
Hungerford, Berkshire Registration District).
