The Will of Mr John Lovelock
Senior of
Wallingford

 This is the last Will and Testament of me John Lovelock the Elder of Wallingford in the County of Berks Maltster I give and devise my Freehold Cottage or Tenement with the Garden and Appurtenances belonging thereto situate and being in the Parish of Saint Leonard in Wallingford aforesaid now in the occupation of Benjamin Readings unto and to the use of my Daughter Hannah Readings Widow her Heirs and Assigns for ever And I give and devise my other Freehold Cottage or Tenement with the Garden and Appurtenances belonging thereto also situate in the Parish of Saint Leonard in Wallingford aforesaid and now in the occupation of my Son in Law James Dearlove unto and to the use of my Daughter Elizabeth the Wife of the said James Dearlove her Heirs and Assigns forever I give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Elizabeth the Legacy or Sum of Four Pounds of lawful Money current in Great Britain Unto my Son James Lovelock the Legacy or Sum of Fifty Pounds of like lawful Money and unto my Sons and Daughter John William Thomas Mary Stephen and Job Lovelock the Legacy or Sum of Eighty Pounds apiece of like lawful Money all of which Legacys I direct shall be paid unto the said Legatees respectively within one year next after my decease And as to all my ready Money Debts owing Household Goods and Furniture Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever ( after payment of my just Debts the Legacys aforesaid and my funeral and Testamentary Expences ) I give and bequeath the same and every part therof unto my said nine children Elizabeth Hannah John James William Thomas Mary Stephen and Job equally to be divided between them share and share alike Provided always and it is my Will than in case my Personal Estate after payment of my just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expences shall not be sufficient to pay the said several Legacys above given then I direct that the deficiency shall be borne by all my said Nine Children in equal shares and proportions and the Ninth part or share of each of them my said Daughters Hannah and Elizabeth of such deficiency shall be a charge upon the Cottage or Tenament and premises herein before devised to her and shall be payable to my Executors hereinafter  named within one year next after my Death And I do hereby constitute and appoint my said Sons John and James Executors of this my Will and hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me made do declare this to be my only last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Twenty Fourth day of February in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixteen

 Signed Sealed Published and declared by the above named John Lovelock the Elder Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto the word “Fifty” in the Twentieth line of the first side having been first written on an erasure

This Will was proved at Oxford on the thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord 1818 Before Reverend ( crossed out) Judge by the oath of John Lovelock and James Lovelock the Sons and Executors therein named to whom Admon was granted being first sworn by Commission duly to Administer
