*New Information
Notes:
- The parish register also includes some detail on donations made to the
parish coffers. In July 14, 1681 appears
Thomas Lovelocke who apparently donated 2s 6d towards restoring the vicarage and surrounds. This is
possibly the father of Thomas born perhaps abt 1671 (ie 25 years before his first Margery in 1696.) Susanna
buried July 26, 1678 is possibly the father's wife. - Jane is possibly the sister of the father of Thomas born perhaps abt 1671.
- Possibly another sister of Thomas born perhaps abt 1671 but of a different
mother since Susanna died in 1678.
"The Burials in Woollen Acts of 1666-1680 required that the dead (except plague victims) should be buried in
shrouds made of pure wool. Furthermore, an affidavit (a statement on oath) had to be sworn before a Justice
of the Peace ... confirming that the body had been buried in wool ... The legislation remained in force until 1814
was generally ignored after about 1770." Herber Mark D. Ancestral Trails, Sutton/SOG (1988) p.306. Apparently
the legislation was intended to stimulate the local wool trade. - Possibly a brother of Thomas born perhaps abt 1671.
- Possibly first son of Thomas born perhaps abt 1671.
- Probably Mary bp 29 Mar 1702.
- Probably father of Thomas born perhaps abt 1671.
- Possibly the second wife of the father of Thomas born perhaps abt 1671.
- Almost certainly Sarah bp 1744.
- Almost certainly Benjamin bp 1744.
- Obviously the LDS extractors missed this one. Note John is bp Jan 31 NOT 13.
- "Base born" = illegitimate. Sarah is probably Sarah bp 1748.
- Almost certainly John bp 1773.
- Since this can't be William bp 1756, this suggests there is another Lovelock family in the same area.
- Could be a son of William bp 1756 but not bp in Ramsbury.
- Could be Thomas bp 1781. Since Thomas was then 43, he probably had other children born elsewhere.
- Probably Elizabeth bp 1752.
- Probably Mary bp 1754.
- Possibly John bp 1779.
- Presumably this is the same Sarah bp 1748 who bore a number of children
illegitimately between 1773
and 1786. Perhaps William Mannings finally made an honest woman of her. - Probably Martha who married William Lovelock and had a number of children
between 1781 and 1794.
The burial of Thomas Lovelock husband of Martha in 1806 could be an error and could be William. - Presumably William and Mary who bore a number of children between 1817 & 1829.
- Elizabeth bp 1824 to Thomas Lovelock and Mary.
- Sophia bn abt 1811 is probably a daughter of William Lovelock and Mary
Williams m: 1811 but not
baptised in Ramsbury. - Maryann is undoubtedly the illegitimate daughter of Sophia Lovelock bp 1833.
- Probably a son of William Lovelock and Mary Williams. They baptised a later
son also James. He
was probably also not baptised in Ramsbury. - Almost certainly William (base born) son of Sarah Lovelocke bp 1783.
- Almost certainly William son of William and Martha Lovelock bp 1791.
- Probably another son of William Lovelock and Mary Williams bp elsewhere.
- Almost certainly Martha daughter of William and Martha Lovelock bp 1794.
