Going West

There are connections between the Lovelock and Calladine names which, considering the comparative rarity of both in the late 18th Century, we decided must be of some significance.

The facts that we know are these:

  • 1. John Thomas Calladine Lovelock was baptised in St Martin in the Fields on 25 Jul 1798, the son of Charles and Eleanor Lovelock.
  • 2. The first child of Charles and Eleanor appears to be the Mary who was baptised in St Giles in the Fields on 13 May 1787.
  • 3. Mary's baptism fits well chronologically with the marriage of Charles Lovelock and Eleanor Cleland in St Brides Fleet Street on 7 Jul 1786.
  • 4. John Thomas Calladine Lovelock and his wife Mary Ann (nee Evans) had four of their sons baptised in St Giles in the Fields.
  • 5. On 16 Oct 1768 Elizabeth Lovelock married Thomas Calladine in St Clement Danes.
