Much of this information was originally assembled by Robert Sterry in 2005, when he made a determined effort to identify the origins of the John Lovelock who is the progenitor of the Wallingford (Berkshire) Line. The results of Robert's original research are here. The John at the head of the Wallingford Tree was buried in 1817, at which time he was said to be 77 years old, and hence Robert's search for a birth in about 1740.
However, the Wallingford Line is not the only one to begin with a John Lovelock born in 1740 or thereabouts. The Tangley (Hampshire) Tree and the Glamorgan Loveluck Line have similar starting points. There thus follows an analysis of a large number of John Lovelocks who appear elsewhere on the Web Site in one or other of the 'Lovelocks in .....' County collections, and many of them in one of the Family Trees that have been assembled.
