Hannah Lovelock Cousens: She was buried at Overton, Hampshire on 22 May 1810.
Sarah Lovelock Ellisdon: She died in 1868, somewhere in the Hackney Registration District, at the age of 78. Her maiden name was Benwell and she was born in Kingsclere, Hampshire according to the 1861 Census, but there appears to be no record of her baptism. She was probably the daughter of John Benwell and Phoebe Lovelock who had married in Kingsclere on 22 Jul 1790. When she married William Ellisdon on 27 Jan 1822 she was recorded as Sarah Lovelock Benwell.This is thus one of those fairly common cases where the mother’s maiden name has been bestowed on a child, and is perhaps the earliest documented Lovelock example.
Austin Lovelock Lapham: Information on the Find a Grave Web Site indicates that Austin was born in 1825 in Wincanton, Somerset, the son of John Lapham and Mary Lovelock, said to have married in 1814. He is buried in Symonds Street Cemetery, Auckland, New Zealand having died on 5 Jun 1883.
Alice Lovelock Hobbs: Alice died in Oct-Dec 1841 at the age of 13. She was the daughter of Benjamin Hobbs and Maria Gray. The GRO death registration gives her name as Alice Loveluck Hobbs, but the name in the image of her Fulham Baptism Register entry at Ancestry is very clear.
Philip Lovelock Lapham: Philip was baptised on 10 Jun 1829 in Wincanton, Somerset, another son of John Lapham and Mary Lovelock, said to have married in 1814. He is buried in Rookwood General Cemetery, Redfern, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia having died on 23 Jun 1908.
Louisa Lovelock Lapham: Louisa was baptised on 25 Dec 1836 in St Margaret, Westminster, Middlesex. She was a daughter of John Lapham and Mary Lovelock, said to have married in 1814. She is buried in Purewa Cemetery, Meadowbank, Auckland, New Zealand in her married name of Aylett having died on 10 Aug 1913.
Alice Lovelock Edwards: She was born in 1845 and died in 1848, but when a sister was born shortly afterwards in 1848 her parents named their second daughter as Alice Lovelock Edwards too. The second Alice married Stephen George Hayman in 1872 and died in 1918.
Charles Lovelock Lovelock: His birth was registered in the Dursley Registration District in Jul-Sep 1847. He was the illegitimate son of Mary Ann Lovelock. The image on the Free BMD Web Site shows the entry as just Charles Lovelock, but the GRO Online Index has the version with 'Lovelock' repeated. Mary Ann married John Rudge on 22 Aug 1847 and Charles used the surname of Rudge for the rest of his life. In the 1861 Census he was recorded as Charles Clifford Rudge, harking back to Mary Ann's father John Clifford Lovelock, and he was similarly recorded when he married in 1871. They were all members of the Cholderton Tree.
James Lovelock Parker: His birth was registered in the Chertsey Registration District in Oct-Dec 1854. His baptism record of 5 Nov 1854 shows that he was born on 14 Oct 1854. His parents were Thomas Parker and Margaret Silvester. He died in 1921.
Maria Lovelock Read: Her birth was registered in the Sheppey Registration District in Oct-Dec 1855, and she was baptised on 9 Jan 1856. Her parents were John Read and Mary Ann Lovelock, who had been previously married to John Bancroft.
Henry Lovelock Rudge: Henry was born in the Apr-Jun quarter of 1857, the son of John Rudge and Mary Ann Lovelock from the Cholderton Tree. At his baptism his parents named him Henry John Rudge, and he was known as John until he died in 1900.
William Lovelock Habberfield: He was the son of John Habberfield and Elizabeth Stretch, born in 1857. John's mother was Hariot Lovelock so William was named for his paternal grandmother. He died in 1863, and was a member of the Cholderton Tree.
Frank Lovelock Bryant: He was the first son of Alfred Bryant and Maria Lovelock, born in 1858.
George Lovelock Bryant: He was the second son of Alfred Bryant and Maria Lovelock, born in 1861. Obviously Maria was particularly keen that her maiden surname should not disappear! They are members of the Lyneham Line.
Henry Lovelock Lovelock: He was born in Jul-Sep 1862 in Cam, Gloucestershire, the son of Charles Lovelock and Mary Tyrrell. He only appears as Henry Lovelock in all subsequent records, so the double use of 'Lovelock' may be a Register Office clerical error.
Edith Lovelock Galyer: She was born in Apr-Jun 1867, the daughter of George Galyer and Sarah Waterman. For some reason the GRO Online Index records Sarah's maiden name as King. Edith married Jacob Howick in 1897, and died in Jan-Mar 1917.
William Lovelock Aldridge: He was baptised in Portsea on 9 Jun 1881, the son of William Aldridge and Elizabeth Carter. He was living in Hammersmith with his wife Edith Ellen (nee Day) in 1911, but disappears from the online records thereafter.
Florence Lovelock Barnard: Florence's birth was registered in the Godstone Registration District in Surrey in Jul-Sep 1881, but she was baptised on 18 September 1881 in Ide Hill in Kent in the church where her parents had married just over ten years previously. She was the daughter of Thomas Barnard and Elizabeth Whitebread. Alas, she died on 4 Feb 1882 and is buried in the churchyard of Saint Nicholas, Godstone.
Lavinia Lovelock Bennett: She was born in the Apr-Jun quarter of 1883, and died in the Jan-Mar quarter of 1885, both events being registered in the Barnsley Registration District.
John Lovelock Holmes: He was born on 8 Jan 1884, and died in the Jul-Sep quarter of 1955. He was a member of the Shrewton Tree.
Minnie Lovelock Rudge: She was born in the Oct-Dec quarter of 1885, the daughter of Charles Clifford Rudge and Emily Creed. Charles was born Charles Clifford Lovelock but took his step-father's surname. He was a half-brother to Henry Lovelock Rudge above, and they were the sons of Mary Ann Lovelock from the Cholderton Tree.
Bernard Lovelock Chittenden: He was born in the Apr-Jun quarter of 1888, the son apparently of William Atkinson and Mary Ann Chittenden. He died on 15 Nov 1909 and is buried with his parents in St Leonard's Churchyard, Hythe, Kent.
Bernard Lovelock Dodd: He was born in the Jan-Mar quarter of 1891, the son of Harry Lovelock Dodd and Charlotte Sarah Bourne, in the Aston Registration District, and died in the West Derby Registration District in Jul-Sep 1925. His father's birth can not be identified but the marriage is the first record of him using the name Lovelock. He was registered as Harry Lovelock Dodd at his death in the West Derby Registration District in Jan-Mar 1918.
Albert Lovelock Lambert: He was born in the Jul-Sep quarter of 1891, the son of Stephen Edward Lambert and Asenath Jan Blane, in the Hackney Registration District. As a Lance Corporal in the 20th Battalion, Australian Infantry he was killed in the Battle of the Somme on 26 Aug 1916. He has no known grave.
Edith Lovelock Lansdown: She was born in Apr-Jun 1895 in Derby. Her mother's maiden name is not recorded in the GRO data so she was possibly illegitimate. Unfortunately she died in Jul-Sep 1895 so we shall never know her parentage unless a copy of her birth certificate surfaces.
Violet Lovelock Lovelock: She was born in Jul-Sep 1895 in Birmingham, the daughter of George Lovelock and Anna Maria Rich Walker. The name must have been a deliberate decision by her parents for she was recorded as Violet L Lovelock in the 1911 and 1921 Census Returns, and as Violet Lovelock Lovelock in her death registration entry in 1937. The family were members of the Aldermaston Tree.
Minnie Lovelock Freegard: She was born on 7 January 1898 the youngest of the four children of Job Freegard and Ann Lovelock who had married in 1891. She married Francis Hand in 1932 and died in 1992.They were all members of the Lyneham Line.
Irene Lovelock Redworth: Irene was the eldest of the six daughters of Charles George Redworth and Rosina Lovelock, born on 29 Apr 1907. They were all members of the Lyneham Line.
Ruth Lovelock Lindsay: Ruth was born in Jan-Mar 1918 and unfortunately died in the Apr-Jun quarter of 1918 in the Leek Registration District, the daughter of William Alexander Lindsay and Sylvia May Odom Lovelock.
David Lovelock Ringwood: He was born in Apr-Jun 1920 in the Yarmouth Registration District, the son of David Ringwood and Rose Lovelock. He died in Aug 1920 in Beccles, Suffolk.
Jane Lovelock Watson: Jane was born on 26 Mar 1921 in Glasgow, Scotland and died on 20 Dec 2010 in Cambuslang, Scotland.
Lillan Lovelock Watson: Allegedly Lily was born on 17 Jul 1923 or 1925 in Glasgow, Scotland and died in about 1988, also in Glasgow.
Reginald Lovelock Horn: His birth was registered in the Edmonton Registration District in Jan-Mar 1923. His parents were Percy Reginald George Horn and Emily Rebecca Horwood. He died in Oct-Dec 1954 in the Stoke-on-Trent Registration District.
Daniel Lovelock Pugh: He was born on 11 Mar 1924 at Little Dewchurch in Herefordshire, the son of Everton Hubert Pugh and Mary Ann Lovelock. He died on 17 Feb 2011 in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
Barry Lovelock Griffiths: He was born on 8 Aug 1925 the son of Frederick Griffiths and Mary Jane Jones. He died in 1990 in the Wycombe Registration District.
John Lovelock Brittan: His birth was registered in the Edmonton Registration District in Apr-Jun 1933. His parents were John Walter Henry Brittan and Mary Jane Ronaldson. He died in 2015.
Christopher Lovelock Hall: He was born on 4 Oct 1937 the son of Arthur Hall and Ida Gladys Gibbard. He died on 1 Mar 1975 in Romsey, Hampshire.
William Lovelock Cousens: The Wiltshire Memorial Inscription Index has an entry for William in Amesbury, noted as the husband of Martha Cousens, but with no dates.
Mary Ann Lovelock Smallbones: She was baptised on 19 Jan 1800 in Enford, Wiltshire. At the time having two forenames was not common practice, so three was most unusual. Mary was the daughter of James Smallbones and Mary Lovelock. Details of their Marriage Licence Bond record them as James Smallbone and Mary Loveluck, but we have been unable to determine which Lovelock Tree they are part of.
James Foyell Lovelock Crosland: He was born on 9 Mar 1840 and died on 21 Oct 1918. He was the son of James Stead Crosland and Ann Lovelock. They were all members of the Shrewton Tree.
Francis John Lovelock Wicks: He was baptised on 16 Sep 1836 and died in the Jan-Mar quarter of 1905. He was the son of John Wicks and Christiana Lovelock. They were all members of the Shrewton Tree.
Mary Elizabeth Lovelock Lapham: Her birth was registered in the Lambeth Registration District in Jan-Mar 1859, and she was baptised on 20 Feb 1859. Her parents were Frederick Augustin Lapham and Sarah Ann Elliott. She did not marry and was recorded as just Mary Elizabeth Lapham when she died in 1901.
Edwin James Lovelock Duncan: He was baptised as such in one of the St Pancras churches on 8 May 1869. However, he was born in Jan-Mar 1865 and registered as Edward James Duncan. His parents were Robert Duncan and Charlotte Lovelock who had married on 12 Mar 1864 in Saint Peter, Pimlico and all were members of the St Pancras (Main) Tree.
Edgar Frank Lovelock Hibberd: He was baptised at Shrewton on 23 May 1875, the illegitimate son of Annie Hibberd. Was she trying to convey a particular message by the naming of her son? It seems she had registered his birth in the name of Edgar Frank Hibberd only, but after the baptism he seems to disappear from online records.
Wilfrid George Lovelock Lee: He was born in Jul-Sep 1882, in the Islington Registration District. His mother's maiden name was Lovelock, and he named his father as Robert William Lee when he married in 1907. However, Free BMD has no record of a Robert William Lee marrying a Lovelock, so she was presumably previously married. Wilfrid does not seem to be included in the 1891 or 1901 Census Returns, although he does appear in the 1911 Returns, but not with either or both of his parents. His death is not included in the GRO data.
Rosina Ruth Lovelock Skelton: Rosina was baptised thus on 25 Dec 1884 in the church of the Holy Trinity, Wimbledon, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ann. However, her birth seems to have been registered as Ruth Lovelock Skilton, mother's maiden name Lovelock. No other details of the family seem to exist.
Elizabeth Jane Lovelock Waight: Jane was recorded as the neice of the widowed Sarah Waight in the 1901 Census and a School Admissions Register image on Ancestry gives her date of birth as 20 May 1886, pointing to the birth of Elizabeth Jane Lovelock Waight in the Fulham RD. The GRO Online Index does not provide her mother's maiden name, and the School Admissions Register names her 'Parent or Guardian' as Sarah Waight. The evidence seems to point to Jane being the illegitimate daughter of Sarah Waight, which lady presumably uttered a couple of terminological inexactitudes when claiming to be the widowed aunt of Jane in 1901. In her marriage entry in the Register of St Augustine's church in Fulham, Middlesex, dated 4 August 1907, Jane named her father as Lovelock Waight, but there is no other evidence of his existence. It seems fair to assume that a Mr Lovelock was considered, or known, by Sarah to be the father of her daughter. Jane died somewhere in Gloucestershire in 1947 at the age of 61.
Ellen Rosa Lovelock Lawes: She was born in Jan-Mar 1895, the fourth daughter of Edward Lawes and Emma Baker Read. She died in Oct-Dec 1933 never having married.
Mabel Emily Lovelock Taverner: She was born in Oct-Dec 1895, the daughter of Allan Taverner and Mabel May Galyer. She married Albert E Ayling in Jul-Sep 1927 and died in Oct-Dec 1967. Mabel May was the sister of Edith Lovelock Galyer above, so she obviously liked her sister's second forename!
Cyril John Lovelock Stronells: He was born in Chesham on 23 Mar 1901, the son of John Stronells and Martha Jane Lovelock, and died on 12 Sep 1988. They were all members of the Aldermaston Tree.
Frederick Charles Lovelock Skilton: He was born on 24 Mar 1909, the son of Frederick Henry James Skilton and Kate Louisa Keattch. He died in 1986. Frederick's parents were Charles Skilton and Mary Ann Lovelock from the Wroughton-Tidcombe Tree.
Vincent George Lovelock Luter: He was born in Portsmouth on 2 Apr 1911, the son of Charles Henry Augustus Luter and Daisy Olive Lovelock, and died on 1 Nov 2006. They were all members of the Compton Tree.
Walter Augustus Lovelock Quinton: He was born in the Portsmouth Registration District on 28 Aug 1912, the son of Walter Quinton and Amelia Elizabeth Lovelock, and died in Apr-Jun 1975. Amelia was the sister of Daisy in the entry immediately above, so they were obviously equally determined that their maiden name should live on. Walter and his parents were of course all members of the Compton Tree.
William Ronald Lovelock Bryant: He was born in Bath on 14 Nov 1912, the son of William George Bryant and Evelyn Wadham, and died on 22 Aug 1989.
Aubrey George Lovelock Hall: He was the son of Norman Hall and Gladys Annie Lovelock, born in the Abingdon Registration District in 1921, and died on 14 October 2016.
Valmai Margaret Lovelock Jones: She was born in the Cardiff Registration District in Oct-Dec 1932, the daughter of George Thomas James Jones and Gertrude Hilda Nash from the Lyneham Line. She married Patrick J Tracy in 1952 but presumably divorced as she married Lester W Pullen in 1956. George's mother was Mary Jane Lovelock so Valmai was at least partly named for one of her grandmothers.
Jessie George Lovelock Wallace Jolly: He was supposedly born in Oxford in 1880, the son of Alphonso and Clementina Jolly, a Scottish couple. He is included in the family's entry in the 1881 Census Returns but the GRO data has no record of a birth, marriage or death. Were Mr and Mrs Jolly such fun-loving people that they decided on a bit of fiction in 1881?
Samuel Francis James Lovelock Horlor: He was born on 7 Feb 1901 and died in the Apr-Jun quarter of 1977. He was the son of Walter James Horlor and Bertha Annie Lovelock. They were all members of the Shrewton Tree. This is one of only two instances yet discovered of Lovelock being registered as a fourth forename.
[The Find my Past Web Site has a record of the baptism of Sarah Lovelock Lovelock on 19 Dec 1858, but this is probably a transcription error. The lady in question was registered at her birth and marriage as just Sarah.]
