- 29-Dec-08: Added Lovelock extracts for London
from the 1871 census, provided by Graham Lovelock. One
record (for Lambeth RD) previously included in the Lovelock extracts for Surrey
from the 1871 census was moved to this new file.
In addition, notes about boundary changes to London and the surrounding counties were added to the following pages: These notes include a link to a more detailed document describing Boundary Changes for London and Surrounding Counties - 18-Dec-08: Graham
Lovelock made a small, but not insignificant, adjustment to the
gedcom
file containing the Lieflock Line on the Webtrees website.
Some 2 or 3 years ago Graham identified a wife and family for Henry Lovelock (I389), the son of David Lovelock and Martha (née Yeates). The wife was named only as Elizabeth Unknown, as the Free BMD entry offered two possibilities. Fortunately June Dunster has provided a copy of the relevant Marriage Certificate. This shows that the husband is actually Henry (I2633), the son of John Lovelock and his first wife, Jane Choules. Henry’s wife is now revealed to be Elizabeth Stanford.
The necessary changes have been made to the gedcom file, along with some minor additions based on a whole clutch of Certificates in June’s possession
- 18-Dec-08: Graham

- Identified his wife (I160) as Ann
Green from the 1851
Census.
- 14-Dec-08: Added a
link to the Lovelock
mailing list archive to the page Lovelock Mailing List
- 8-Dec-08: A branch of
the Kingsclere
tree, beginning with Thomas
LOVELOCK, bap at Hannington, Hants, 24 Jul 1785, was
removed, after it was pointed out by Graham Lovelock that this
branch is included in the Aldermaston tree,
starting from another Thomas
LOVELOCK, bap 22 Jun 1788 at Padworth, Berks. The latter
identification is substantiated by 1841 and 1851 census records.

file is available, which can be downloaded from the gedcom files page or browsed on the
Webtrees site by selecting 'Stepney'
from the list of trees.
- 10-May-08: A 'cleanup' was performed on the place names for the 'Lambeth - Australia - NZ' database on the Webtrees site. This means that the map displayed by clicking on the 'Map' tab for an individual will in almost all cases display correct location information. In addition, a number of individuals and fragments which were not connected to the main tree have been removed from the database. The descendant tree has not been updated, since this has not changed apart from the mostly cosmetic changes to the place names, but the gedcom file which is linked to the 'gedcom files' page has been updated.
- 29-Apr-08: A
'cleanup' was performed on the place names for the 'Wilts
Trees 1' database on the Webtrees site.
This means that the map displayed by clicking on the 'Map' tab for an individual will in almost all cases display correct location information. The descendant trees have not been updated, since these have not changed apart from the mostly cosmetic changes to the place names, but the gedcom file which is linked to the 'gedcom files' page has been updated.
- 23-Apr-08: Added a Site Policy document which
contains statements on the privacy, accuracy and copyright of
material on the Web site. The privacy policy represents a slight
change compared to previous practice.
- 21-Apr-08: Updated
the descendant trees for the Lieflock and Tangley (Hants) trees.
See the What's New items for 11-Apr-08,
5-Apr-08, 10-Mar-08, 5-Mar-08 and 28-Feb-08 for relevant changes.
The tables of Lovelock Family
Trees, Wilts Trees and Hants Trees have been updated
accordingly.
The updated gedcom file can be downloaded from the gedcom files page. - 14-Apr-08: The
following changes were made to the Lyneham
Tree on the Webtrees site:
- Added details of the death of Clifford Stanley Loveluck (I1297), found on the Web site http://www.lastingtribute.co.uk/
- Changes made by Graham Lovelock concerning George Lovelock (I1337) and the children of his marriage to Mary Comley (I1631):
- GRO references for George's birth and death, and for
Mary's birth

- 12-Apr-08: Kingsclere
Tree on the Webtrees site: added some extra details,
provided by Ian Turnbull, concerning the children of Jane
Lovelock ([42] 1781-1839) and John Drewett.
- 12-Apr-08: Made a
minor correction to the Lovelocks in
Middlesex file. The parents of Alice Lovelock, baptised at
St Pancras (Old Church) 10 Oct 1864, had been recorded as
Charles Lovelock and Alice; after checking the IGI Alice's
mother's name has been corrected to Mary Ann.
- 11-Apr-08:
Graham Lovelock added details of Sarah
(I3425), the illegitimate daughter of Grace Pyke (I1778)
to the Tangley Tree on the Webtrees site. He also entered
details of her marriage to Charles Read (I3426), and of their
children Ann Maria, Frederick, Reuben George, John Henry,
William, Jane Grace, and Thomas Henry (I3427 – I3433), as well
as details of her death and of Charles’. Sarah appeared in
every Census from 1841 to 1901, so those details are also
included. The gedcom can be accessed by selecting ' Wiltshire
Trees - Lieflock Line, WR Tree and Tangley Tree' on the
Webtrees Welcome Page ('Welcome Page' tab), or you can follow
this direct
link to Sarah Pyke
- 7-Apr-08: Graham
Lovelock added details to the Ropley, Crondall, Dogmersfield
(Hants) Tree of the two children of Jesse Lovelock ([I119]
1851-?) and Hephzibah Gardner, Ada Mary Lovelock (I406) and
William David Lovelock (I407). The additions are based on the
1881 Census Return for Barton St Michael, Gloucestershire and
Free BMD data. The gedcom can be accessed by selecting 'Ropley,
Crondall, Dogmersfield (Hants) Tree' on the Webtrees
Welcome Page ('Welcome Page' tab). The updated file can also be
accessed from the Table on the 'Hants
Trees' page of the Lovelock Family History website.
- 5-Apr-08: The Lieflock Line was updated on the Webtrees site by Graham Lovelock. The additions concern all of the children of James Lovelock ([I760] 1839-c1878) and/or Elizabeth Maslen ([I761] 1837-?), with the exception of their daughter Martha:
- Added a Birth reference for Ann Lovelock (I3106)
- Added details of birth, marriage and death for Eli Lovelock (I3107), and details of his son Henry James Lovelock (I3407)

- Added Census data in support of some of the above changes
- 31-Mar-08: Some small changes were made to the Aldermaston gedcom on the Webtrees website, resulting from the suggestions put forward by John Lewis after the file was posted on 22 March. Although, it seems unsafe to link back two more generations to the Thatcham Lovelocks, there does seem to be a reasonable probability that John, the erstwhile progenitor of the tree, is the son of Edward Lovelock, baptised at Sulhampstead Bannister on 25 Nov 1660. Other Sulhampstead entries suggest that Edward's wife was named Sarah, but there are no marriage entries amongst the data extracted so far that absolutely confirm that. As well as John's parents, siblings Edward, Thomas, Sarah and Mary have been added, together with details of Mary's marriage and children. The gedcom file can be browsed on the Webtrees site by selecting ' The Aldermaston, Berks' from the Welcome page.
- 31-Mar-08: A new
gedcom file for the Beenham
- Berkshire tree has been added to the Webtrees site.
Previously, only a descendant tree was available for this tree,
which was referred to as the Berkshire - Cheshire - Lancashire
Connection. The gedcom file was provided by Graham Lovelock, and
includes some new material (mostly non-Lovelock descendants) and
source references (parish registers, GRO references and census
records).
The gedcom can be accessed by selecting 'Beenham - Berks' on the Welcome page of the Webtrees site, or alternatively from the table on the Berkshire Trees page.
The corresponding Beenham - Berks descendant tree has been updated, and the gedcom file can be downloaded from the gedcom files page.
- 31-Mar-08: Added two
files containing Lovelock and Loveluck entries from ships'
passenger lists in the period 1940 to 1949, compiled by
Graham Lovelock. These files are linked to the section on Emigration and Ships'
Passenger Lists in the General
Sources page.
- 25-Mar-08: The Wallingford
Berkshire tree was updated on the Webtrees site by Robert
Sterry to include information on the
family of George Leach and Mary Lovelock supplied by Vicki Houlbrooke.
- 21-Mar-08: Two trees
beginning in Aldermaston, Berks, have been merged into a single
tree, and a gedcom file has been produced for this tree by
Graham Lovelock. The gedcom file can be browsed on the Webtrees
site by selecting the Aldermaston
tree, and it is also available for download from the gedcoms page. A descendant tree has been
produced from the new Aldermaston gedcom file, and it is linked
to the Berkshire Trees page.
The following notes describe how the two trees were merged, together with details of some further additions: - It was considered unlikely that Elisha LOVELOCK ([79] 1762-1791) was the son of 12 year old Katherine ([20] 1750-?), so she has been identified as the son of Katherine's mother Catherine ([16] ?-1793). Unfortunately. we do not have a date for the burial of Catherine's husband John ([15] 1718-?), which might have confirmed her status as an unmarried mother when Elisha was born.
- Thomas LOVELOCK ([33] 1788-1861), who was previously at the head of Aldermaston Tree 2, has been identified as the son of the above Elisha, on the basis that there were no other Aldermaston area families producing children to complicate the issue.
- Entered a spouse Sarah MAY of the above Elisha, and a son
William by this marriage.
- Entered spouse Elizabeth Teresa WEBB of Edward LOVELOCK ([32] 1756-1823) together with 7 children by this marriage
- Entered an additional daughter, Emily Caroline, of Thomas LOVELOCK ([41] 1842-1916) and Eliza KENWARD, and additional details for some of the other children.
- 19-Mar-08: Updated
the Lovelock extracts from
the 1871 Census Data for Wiltshire to include the schedule
references for each household, provided by Graham Lovelock. A
number of minor corrections were also made, and one new entry
(for Lyneham, Littlecott) was added.
- 16-Mar-08: The Middlesex - Tasmania tree has been added to the Webtrees site (previously, only a descendant tree was available). The gedcom file can also be downloaded from the gedcoms page. In addition, a number of changes have been made to the database and the corresponding descendant tree, some of which were suggested by Graham Lovelock. The changes include the following:
- GRO marriage record for Henry LOVELUCK ([1] 1783-1867) 1Q
1847 and identified spouse as Sarah FISHER
- 1861 census record for family of George ([3] 1819-1863) & Martha LOVELUCK with son Harry George and 1881 record for Sarah
- 1881 census record for Harry George LOVELUCK ([5] 1859-1885) and GRO record for his marr to Elizabeth RICE 2Q 1883
- GRO records of birth of Harry Frederick LOVELUCK ([8] 1883-1934) and for his marriage to Mary Eldridge ABBOTT
- Updated reference to 'Tasmanian Tigers' for Harry Alfred LOVELUCK ([17] 1908-1977)
- Following an email exchange with Graham Lovelock, identified the spouse of George LOVELUCK ([3] c1819-1963) as Martha WILDING, from the marriage details Jun 1858 W London RD (NB ref incorrectly recorded as 1a 79 on FreeBMD, should have been 1c 79, which is where spouse was found)
- Details of birth and baptism for Harry George LOVELUCK ([5] 1859-1885)
- GRO reference for marriage of George LOVELUCK ([3] 1819-1863), spouse identified as Martha WILDING
- 1881 census record for Martha Loveluck née WILDING ([4] 1826/7-1895)
- Some rather speculative additions of the ancestors of George LOVELOCK ([3] 1819-1863) based on the hypothesis that his father Henry LOVELOCK ([1] 1786/87-1871) had married previous to his marriage to Sarah (now tentatively identified as Sarah FISHER [2], 1796-1881) in 1Q 1847. Henry's first marriage has tentatively been identified as to Amey MAKEY, 31 Jul 1815 at St George, Hanover Square. Two brothers of Henry have also been tentatively identified. A number of parish register entries, GRO records and records of wills have been entered in support of these additions.
- 14-Mar-08:
The following changes to the Lambeth,
Australia and New Zealand tree on the Webtrees site were
made by Graham Lovelock:
- Elizabeth (I211), the wife of Stephen Lovelock the progenitor of the tree, has possibly been identified as the one who died in the St Olave Registration District (RD) in 1842.
- The death of her son Abraham Lovelock (I204) has been identified in Bermondsey RD in 1838.
- The wife of Abraham's son William Henry Lovelock has been identified as Hannah King (I33); details of her marriage and death have been added.
- Details of the marriages, spouses and families for each of William Henry and Hannah's first 3 children have been added, as have details of 2 additional daughters.
- The marriage of Thomas Robert Lovelock (I279) has been identified, although there is no supporting evidence to identify which of the 2 candidates in the Free BMD entry was his spouse (I565).
- Details of the children of Letitia Mary Lovelock (I343) and her husband Peter Reeve (I342) have been added.
- Details of the children of Annie Elizabeth Lovelock (I150) and her husband George Reeve (I219) have been added.
- Details of the births and deaths of Alice Beatrice
Lovelock (I149) and her husband Edward George Medlycott
(I214), together with details regarding 4 of their 5
children, have been added.
- 10-Mar-08: The following changes to the Lieflock Line on the Webtrees site were made by Graham Lovelock:
- The entry for Henry James Lovelock (I1064) has been amended.
He had been indicated as being born about 1897, but his age in
1901 was given as 14 and at his marriage in 1911 as 24. He has
thus been deduced to be the illegitimate son of Sarah Ann
Grace (I2670), born in 1886, although he clearly adopted the
surname of Lovelock.
- Marjorie I Lee (I3404) and Lily E Lee (I3405) have been added as daughters of Elsie Grace Lovelock (I1053) and Frederick Lee (I1054), although as they were born within the last 100 years further details are not provided.
- 5-Mar-08:
Following a message to the Lovelock mailing list from Carol
Cooper, some additional details were added by Graham Lovelock to
the Tangley
Tree, concerning the marriages of Maud Kathleen née BURGE
([I974] 1881-1970) firstly to Alfred GREEN and secondly to
Alfred George NUTLAND, together with details of the death of
Maude Kathleen née BURGE.
- 2-Mar-08: The Wallingford Berkshire tree has been updated on the Webtrees site. The updated tree corresponds to a gedcom file provided by Robert Sterry which includes some further cleaning up on the place names (see the entry for 17-Jan-08), together with a number of minor corrections and additions, including the following:
- A source reference to the MI has been added for the burials
of John LOVELOCK ([17] c1740-1817) and for his spouse Mary née
WHITWICK. Also, a son Frederick of this couple has been
removed, since no evidence for him has been found
- Corrected name of Catherine CHERRIL to Kitty CHERRIL ([13] 1789-1824) and added baptism record in support of this change
- Removed son William of Thomas LOVELOCK ([27] 1788-1849) and
Elizabeth UNKNOWN, since no evidence has been found for this
son. Added first name of Elizabeth's first husband Joseph
PALMER, and a son Joseph of this couple
- 28-Feb-08: As a result of a contact with Tony Green, the Tangley Tree has been updated on the Webtrees site by Graham Lovelock. The changes include the following:
- The wife of
David Lovelock [I1782] is now identified as Frances Fanny
Blackstone [I1783], and details of their marriage and her
birth and death have been added, with Census records from 1891
and 1901, where the family were recorded under the surname
LOCK.
- Two children of the marriage, Grace Elizabeth and Clifford Stanley [I3397 and I3398], have been added, with details of births and deaths, together with details of Clifford Stanley's marriage and his spouse, Ada Dorothy Wickenden [I3399].
- Details of the marriage of Maud Katherine Burge [I974] (the niece of David and Frances) to Alfred Green [I3400] have been added.
- 27-Feb-08: Updated
the 1861 census records for
Wiltshire, which has been completed by Graham Lovelock
- 26-Feb-08: The Marlborough Tree has been updated on the Webtrees site by Graham Lovelock. The changes include the following:

- A spouse, Edward J GROVER, has been added for Winifred May
LOVELOCK (111] 1897-?), with GRO details of the marriage.
- 25-Feb-08: Updated the Lambourn-Sparsholt tree. The changes include the following:

concerning deaths in WWI of George LOVELOCK ([106] 1893-1916)
and brother Charles Henry ([68] 1895-1917); also details of
death of father Charles LOVELOCK ([102] 1857-1943), and of the
three children of sister Alice LOVELOCK ([107] 1904-?) and
Wilfred William SHEPPARD.
- Added the 'Burghfield-Berks' branch provided by Robert Sterry 24-Jan-08. This begins with the marriage of John LOVELOCK ([9], son of Richard LOVELOCK ([3] 1672-1735) and Elizabeth HOAN) to Elizabeth WOOLFE, and includes almost 40 descendants. This branch was constructed mainly by Robert, but also includes contributions from John Lovelock and Graham Lovelock
- Following an email exchange between Michelle Lovelock and Graham Lovelock, entered the following corrections and additions:

Berkshire
from the Berkshire FHS, provided by John Lovelock, compiled by Robert Sterry - 27-Jan-08: Reorganised some of the Trees and Fragments, as follows:
- Created a new page, London
and
Middlesex Lovelock Trees and Fragments which
contains trees which have their origins in London or
Middlesex. Most of these were previously on the page Lovelock Trees
and Fragments for Other Count(r)ies, which has been
modified accordingly; the remaining trees linked to this page
have been separated into separate files for convenience
(previously, several trees were grouped together in the same
file).
- The format of the tables of trees has been modified slightly, and now includes an additional column with pointers to gedcom files, where available. This information was already available on the Gedcom Files page, but has been added to the tables of trees for convenience. In addition, the headings of the last two columns (number of individuals and number of Lovelocks) has been modified to clarify their content.
- One fragment, the Hornsey (London) and Yorkshire Fragment, has been removed from the list of Lovelock Trees and Fragments for Other Count(r)ies. Part of this fragment is included in A Second London Tree (mainly St Pancras), but the remainder of the tree has not been substantiated, and it contains a number of incoherences, which have been documented by Graham Lovelock. The fragment is available as Fragment 5 in The Early Lovelock Fragments, compiled by Robert Sterry and based on the research of Gwen Eastment.
- The 'Fragment for Henry Lovelock, arrived Queensland Aus. 1857' has been replaced by an extended version, the Shoreditch - Queensland (Aus) Tree (see 26 Apr 09 entry above) which was provided by Robert Sterry long ago (10 Nov 2001) compiled by Gwen Eastment based on information provided by Ben Lovelock and Mary Jane Lovelock
- The St Pancras (main) Tree has been considerably extended with new material from Graham Lovelock, Neil Lovelock (Australia) and Robin Lovelock (Sunninghill, Berks). In addition, Graham produced a database and gedcom file for this tree.
- The Bethnal Green Tree for Charles Lovelock (aka as Charles Shaw) has been extended with new material provided by Roger Lovelock and Graham Lovelock
- The St Pancras (piano makers) Tree, which was previously included as an additional fragment with the main St Pancras tree (see above) has been extended with material provided by Linda Lovelock and Graham Lovelock
- The St Pancras fragment, which was originally included as an
appendix to the St
Pancras (main) Tree, has been slightly extended, and a
number of relevant census records have been added.
- The five trees listed above have all been included in one database, and a corresponding London - Middlesex gedcom file can be downloaded from the gedcom files page
- The gedcom file has also been uploaded to the Lovelock
Webtrees site, and the updated tree can be browsed by
selecting the London
- Middlesex Trees
- 17-Jan-08: Updated
the Wallingford Berks Line using a revised version of the
corresponding database provided by Robert Sterry.
The main changes are as follows: - All place names have been examined and modified where necessary to conform to the hierarchical structure (.. town, county, country) required by the Webtrees Google Maps module. This means that maps should be available with the correct location of places for all recorded events which have place name information.
- Some of the female (non-Lovelock) branches have been pruned, to conform more closely with the usual practice on the Web site of only including one or two generations for non-Lovelock descendants.
- The Wallingford Berks Line descendant tree: HTML format and PDF format
- The tables on the pages Berkshire Lovelock Family Trees and Lovelock Family Trees (Overview) have been updated
- The gedcom file for the Wallingford Berks Line has been updated and can be downloaded from the gedcom files page
- The updated gedcom file has also been uploaded to the Lovelock Webtrees site, and the updated tree can be browsed by selecting the Wallingford Berks Line
